Every year as part of its rich calendar, the Kastellorizian Association of Victoria (KAV) is running Greek language and culture while Greek dancing classes are also set to begin soon.

In collaboration with the Greek Orthodox Community and its lectures program, KAV is proudly sponsoring two seminars:

  • The first is on Thursday 23 May presented by Dr Andonis Piperoglou and is titled ‘Making Greek Australia: Rethinking History, Ethnicity and Belonging’.

The seminar is free and commences at 7pm at the Greek Centre, (168 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne).

  • On Sunday 26 May, Pr. Piperoglou will again touch on his research (see above lecture) in a celebratory event followed by live Greek music, dancing and singing.

After the liturgy at St Constantine and St Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Barry Street, South Yarra, a luncheon will be held at the KAV club-rooms (250 Dorcas St South Melbourne) to celebrate the feast day of the community’s patron saint; there will also be a presentation of VCE and KYA Awards.

To RSVP by 23 May contact Christine Mastores-Davidson at Christine.md@bigpond.com or phone 0414 822 234. Free entry, donations welcome.

Meanwhile, Greek Language and Culture classes are already being hosted by the KAV since 1 May.

The classes, held at the KAV Club-rooms (250 Dorcas St South Melbourne) every Wednesday 4.30pm – 5.30pm cater for ages between 8 and 16 years and cost $15 per lesson.
