Choosing a career path as a student is one of the most overwhelming experiences you can face growing up in this current day and age.

That is where school work experience programs really help and are able to give students guidance in choosing a career that best suits them.

For students who get a placement in a field of work they are already interested in, the program allows them to make a well-informed decision on if they should continue pursuing that career path or if it is just not right for them.

This is shown with students such as Isaac Piskopos:

“I worked at a primary school for work experience, it was really good. I already knew I wanted to do teaching, so it confirmed what I wanted to do in my future,” said Isaac, a student at Strathmore Secondary College.

Speaking to four Greek students from four different schools, they all enjoyed their placements and were able to learn and develop skills that will greatly benefit them in the future.

Jasmine was able to develop more people skills at her placement at one of the retail stores of NGO Vinnies, serving and interacting with customers.

Ethan learned that retail is not the way for him while working at Spotlight, but still considers it as a viable part-time career while he studies for a position in the IT industry.

Michael enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of the library and was given the opportunity to read books and interact with children.

All students said they would encourage others to participate, as every experience can be valuable, learning from both successes and failures while completing their placements to the best of their ability.
