The 27-year-old suspect who confessed to the murder of American molecular biologist Suzanne Eaton on the Greek island of Crete has blamed porn addiction for his actions.

The married father of two and son of a priest, Giannis Paraskakis told authorities during an interrogation that watching too much hardcore porn led to him raping and killing the 59-year-old, who disappeared while attending an Orthodox Academy of Crete conference.

The suspect said that he first saw Ms Eaton on 2 June, 2019. He then proceeded to ram into her car twice, claiming that he was “motivated by sexual satisfaction”. He said he then stuffed Ms Eaton’s body, who was unconscious at the time, into the boot of his car and drove to a World War II bunker near Xamoudochori, in a remote location. It was there that he said he raped her.

Ms Eaton’s colleagues realised that the scientist had missed a number of sessions at the conference, concern leading them to report her missing.

Her body was recovered from inside the bunker on 8 July, almost five weeks after her disappearance, the cause of death ruled as the result of asphyxiation.

Paraskakis said that watching excessive hard core porn was his attempt to invigorate his “miserable life”, and described the murder as an “act of despair”.
