Halloumi’s popularity is continuing to grow worldwide as UK’s Burger King recently added the Halloumi Burger, described by its website as a “buttery brioche bun with freshly cut crisp lettuce, onions, tomatoes and creamy mayo.”

Known as the Halloumi King, the burger debuted in Sweden last year and it is hoped that the fast-food chain will slowly begin to offer this burger to other countries.

Despite the meatless status of the burger, it is still not an option for vegetarians as the “product is cooked in the same oil as chicken and fish”.

It is hoped that the Halloumi King will make its way to the US so that US diners can enjoy the Cypriot taste sensation.
