Nominations for South Australia’s 2019 Governor’s Multicultural Awards are now open.

The awards recognise individuals and organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to multiculturalism in South Australia across a range of sectors, by promoting cultural diversity and increasing community understanding of its benefits, while providing an opportunity for their stories to be celebrated and acknowledged.

Among those awarded last year was Dr Hamoudi Neshmi Aldyni. He received the Outstanding Individual Achievement Award in recognition for his work supporting new migrants and refugees. While the City of Adelaide Participation and Inclusion Team were the winner of the Public Sector Award for their initiatives to assist people from diverse communities to feel welcome, which included organising several inclusive events.

Nominations can be made in the following categories:

  • Outstanding individual achievement

  • Community sector
  • Media
  • Private sector
  • Public sector
  • Senior volunteer
  • Volunteer
  • Youth

Winners will be announced in early 2020 at a ceremony at Government House.
