In my book, psychedelic electronic rockers MGMT released album of the year in 2008.

They took the world by storm with their offbeat music style and kooky outfits; I know I still pump Weekend Wars on the trusty iPod during the journey to work every now and then.

On this note, blessed are the party diehards of Athens this September as MGMT hit Greek shores for a live concert. The US duo will be supported by local artists. The two Greek acts on the bill are Technopolis and Cyanna.

Both bands are described as as pop-rock experimentalists. In other words, perfect warm up acts for MGMT.

Before hitting Athens, MGMT were downunder for Triple J’s Splendour in the Grass music festival in Byron Bay this weekend past.

Tickets are 40 euro for the Greek show and further information on the gig can be obtained at www.mtv-greece.com.
