Events commemorating the Greek 28 October public holiday, Ohi day, were celebrated around Australia.

In Melbourne, events took place at the Axion Esti monastery at Northcote on Sunday, 27 October.

Wreath-laying and other festivities followed at the church’s courtyard.

On Monday, the Hellenic RSL organised a ceremony at the Hellenic Memorial near the Shrine of Remembrance, followed by wreath-laying and a special ceremony within the Shrine of Remembrance.

The national holiday was also celebrated in Sydney by AHEPA NSW. The 79th anniversary of the 28 October 1940 was celebrated at the Holy Archdiocese, followed bya modest event at the ANZAC Memorial at Hyde Park.
