Stefanos Tsitsipas, 21, beat six-time champion Roger Federer 6-3, 6-4 at the season-ending ATP Finals on Saturday. He saved 11 of 12 breaking points and continually put Federer, 38, under pressure.

Making his first appearance at the event, Tsitsipas saved all six break points he faced in the first set, including two 5-3 before beginning a marathon game against Federer who played flawless tennis against Novak Djokovic to reach his ways to the finals on Thursday but performed erratically against Tsitsipas.

“No doubt I had my chances,” Federer said, finishing the match with five unforced errors, including two double-faults. “I’m just frustrated I couldn’t play better. And when I did and fought my way back, I threw it away again.”

Tsitsipas came off a three-set loss to Nadal in his match on Friday but did not show signs of fatigue.

The 17-year age difference between the two players was the largest in the history of the tournament. Tsitsipas is set to play defending champ Alexander Zverev or Dominic Thiem.
