Marie Fredriksson’s death at the age of 61 last Monday sent shock ripples throughout the world, and Greece was not exception.

The Voice of Greece judge Helena Paparizou payed a tribute to the Roxette singer during Friday night’s show.

During the show, Greek-Swedish singer Paparizou also sang her own single “Askopa Xenihtia“.

Fredriksson was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2002 and never fully recovered. In 2016, she was advised to cease all touring activity, however sadly passed away last week.

Paparizou was born and raised in Sweden to Greek parents, she launched a career in Sweden in 1999 as a member of the laïko (Greek folk music) and Eurodance duo Antique, who participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 and afterwards became popular.
