Greek Australian boxer George Kambosos Jr. has managed to overcome the obstacle of Mickey Bey at the Madison Square Garden, in what is unarguably the greatest victory of his career.

The two fighters were head-to-head in what appeared to be an even contest, yet near the end of the tenth round the Greek-Aussie was finally able to down his opponent, with the scores almost tied at 97-92, 96-93, 94-95.

The split decision among the judges ended in favour of Kambosos Jr. who will now look to move on to bigger and greater things.

This important victory will allow Kambosos Jr. a greater chance at the World Champion title, as he now eyes his next opponent to be either Vasily Lomachenko or Teofimo Lopez.

“If Commey is to win, I’ll probably go to Lomanchenko, but if Commey is to lose, there’s a big chance me and Lopez get it on next,” said the young boxer before the match.

“We’re on this card for a reason. Everything has been put here to create even more interest and those opportunities could be there, if we do the business against Bey and look great. I’m ready to bring real boxing back to Australia. They know I’m a real fighter, a real contender.”
