People from the Greek community are being urged to nominate for the 2013 People of Australia Ambassadors program by Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Senator Kate Lundy. Nominations will be open to outstanding individuals to be recognised for their work in diverse and ethnic communities.

Ambassadors will be in direct dialogue with the Government and the Australian Multicultural Council (AMC). They will play an important role in providing advice to the Government on initiatives that promote diversity and community strength.

“The program honours people who have a strong commitment to inclusion, social cohesion and worked tirelessly at a grass roots level to build stronger communities,” Senator Lundy said.

“The Ambassadors will operate as a link between their community and the Government. They play an important role promoting inclusion and participation in our community.

“I encourage Australians to nominate people from their community who are passionate about diversity.” Senator Lundy said.

Nominations close on 3 February 2013. All nominations will be considered by the Australian Multicultural Council. For more information visit www.amc.gov.au.
