The Ethnic Communities’ Council of Victoria (ECCV) welcomes a report highlighting the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
The Waiter, is that inclusion in my soup? A new recipe to improve business performance report released by Deloitte Australia and the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission, found workers in more diverse and inclusive workplaces are happier.
ECCV chairperson Joe Caputo OAM said the results – that employees who perceive their organisation is committed to, and supportive of diversity are 80 per cent more likely to believe they work in a high performing organisation – show the benefits of having a diverse workplace in terms of innovation, productivity and employee satisfaction.
“Workplaces and employers should take heed of this report, as it provides them with an outline of a successful model to implement,” Mr Caputo said.
This report’s “recipe for success” includes an equal focus on diversity and inclusion, which in turn results in improved business performance. There are economic benefits from recognising and promoting cultural diversity.”
