Tom Hanks’ constantly growing love for Greece is almost as famous as he is. The Hollywood A-lister and his Greek-American wife never miss a chance to publicly demonstrate it.
The Academy Award-winning actor and filmmaker has once again taken to social media to proclaim his feelings inviting everyone to the land of beauty and democracy.
Together with actress and producer Rita Wilson, he posted a video urging everyone to join the celebration of Greece’s War of Independence from the Ottoman rule.
“We are so excited to celebrate with Greeks all over the world the bicentennial of 200 years of Greek independence. It’s an amazing thing to celebrate my Greek heritage and we hope that you’ll all join us in celebrating what’s to come in this amazing event,” Wilson says in the video shared by greece2021.gr.
“Greece the land of beauty, the land of democracy, the land of great thinkers, the land of wonderful people,” Hanks, who recently received honorary Greek citizenship by President Prokopis Pavlopoulos, said.
