The Greek government has enforced new coronavirus restrictions in Greece with the imposition of bans on public gatherings of more than 10 people in open spaces.

Civil Protection Deputy Minister Nikos Hardalias announced the new measures on Wednesday following a briefing on coronavirus statistics by infectious disease specialist Sotiris Tsiodras. Gatherings of more than 10 people in indoor areas, especially for the purposes of entertainment were also discouraged.

Businesses who did not have the option of allowing staff to work remotely were also called upon to make measures for rotational work to ensure that a safe distance was kept by staff members.

Prior to the announcement, Mr Tsiodras gave the Greek figures for Greece with 31 new cases diagnosed since Tuesday. The total number of those infected in Greece is at 418 people, and the source of 64 of those is unknown. An analysis of statistical data shows that 2,000-3,000 people could be infected in Greece at this point, however the 6,000 tests for coronavirus that have been carried out only showed 418 people infected.
