Next year will mark 200 years since Greece began the struggle for independence and Victoria’s Organizing Committee of the National Anniversary is calling on the entire Greek community to take part in organising events to mark the great anniversary.

The organising committee which consists of all major Greek organisations in Victoria has begun preparations for a host of events next year to mark the second century of the Greek Revolution. It is calling on Greek community schools, organisations, cultural groups, fraternities, federations, women’s and youth associations interested in organising events for the anniversary to contact the committee.

The celebration events will not be limited to March, the month in which the National Day is celebrated, but will be held throughout 2021. All applications to take part must be submitted to the committee by 31 August, this year.

A highlight of the celebrations will be a visit by the Evzones Presidential Guard. Schools that are interested in hosting the Guard during their visit can apply to Parade Committee by 31 August. Each application must provide detailed reasons in writing for making the applications because of many regulations that will apply for such a visit by the Presidential Guard.
