Up to $500,000 is up for grabs for multicultural media outlets in Victoria for new equipment and technology.

The Victorian Government is putting the money forward to enable outlets to continue delivering high quality news, entertainment and information, while also increasing their engagement with readers, viewers and listeners.

Minister for Multicultural Affairs Ros Spence says, “This will be a great boost for multicultural media outlets that do so much in keeping diverse communities up to date on current affairs, while also giving those communities a voice of their own.”

There are two grant streams available.

Under the small grants stream, outlets can apply for between $2,000 and $9,999, while funding of between $10,000
to $25,000 is available under the major grants stream.

Victoria is home to close to 200 multicultural media outlets with over 26 per cent of Victorians speaking a different language other than English at home.

“Victoria is stronger because of our multiculturalism and multicultural media has a huge role to play in that – we’re
delighted to support the important work they do,” says Ms Spence.

Applications for program close at 11:59pm on 5 July 2020.
