Former Commancheros bikie boss Amad ‘Jay’ Malkoun, 57, is back in Melbourne after spending seven years as an ex-pat in Dubai and surviving a car bombing in Greece in March 2019.

He is believed to walk with the aid of crutches following the Athens bombing which took place after he tried to start his Mercedes-Benz sedan in a car park outside a gym in upmarket Glyfada. He had been rushed to Asklipio General Hospital and was protected by police and bodyguards as there were fears that there would be further attacks against him. Later, he convalesced in Lebanon.

He may have returned to Australia to seek specialist medical treatment.

There are fears that the return of the convicted heroin trafficker may lead to conflict with current Comancheros gang boss Mick Murray.

There is speculation that he may try to regain control of the bikie club which has had numerous problems, including arrests of senior members and internal squabbles.

Other speculation is focused on Malkoun’s negotiation with rival bikie gang Mongols, one of the most powerful motorcycle clubs in Australia.

Malkoun’s return is expected to shift the balance of power.

He left Australia in 2013 and spent time in Dubai.
