Victoria’s Premier Daniel Andrew declared a ‘state of disaster’ for Victoria on Sunday after 671 new COVID-19 cases were announced. On Monday, 429 new cases are expected to be announced along with 13 deaths.

After a curfew was imposed on Melbourne from 8pm-5am, Mr Andrews on Monday is expected to detail which businesses will be ‘deemed’ essential through the new six-weel lockdown.

Regional Victorians have also had further restrictions imposed as they re-entered stage three lockdown this week.

Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Cap on Monday morning told the Today show that there is a ‘level of exhaustion’ and ‘devastation’ for businesses in Melbourne.

“I think people are genuinely concerned about how long they can continue to operate in an online environment, how long they can continue to operate during lockdown,” she said.

Meanwhile, on Monday, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian reported 13 new cases of COVID-19 overnight: three were from overseas travellers; one was someone returning from Victoria; and four cases were from a traveller returning from Victoria.
