The Greek Orthodox Parish and Community of the Holy Apostles in Newcastle and district has been granted a NSW government donation of $29,450.

The grant funding was given as part of the NSW 2012 Community Building Partnership program, for maintenance at the Holy Apostles church and the Hellenic community hall in Hamilton.

After attending the service at the Greek church of Newcastle on the Palm Sunday, the state member for Newcastle Tim Owen was welcomed by parish priest Nicholas Skordilis.

On behalf of the Newcastle community and its members, father Skordilis expressed gratitude to the State Government and to Mr Owen personally for the support and financial assistance offered to the Greek Church and Community of Newcastle.

After a brief welcome from the president Paul Milonas, Mr Owen announced the NSW Government donation of $29,450 dollars, which was given to the Greek Parish and Community of Newcastle in recognition of its valuable and versatile contribution to both the Greek community and the local community of Newcastle generally.
