Chair of the Greek Festival of Sydney Ms Nia Karteris, confirmed to Neos Kosmos that this year’s Delphi Bank Greek Film Festival will not take place due to coronavirus.

“There was a thought,” she said, “to do it online, but it would not be the same. It’s a shame because we had outstanding films. We will do it next year, bigger and better, always with the kind auspices of Delphi Bank.”

In response to the decision to cancel the 2020 edition of the Delphi Bank Greek Film Festival, Delphi Bank’s General Manager, Jim Sarris stated: “The Delphi Bank Greek Film Festival isn’t simply about Hellenic cinema. It’s about connecting with family and friends to celebrate our rich history, heritage and culture.”

“As the proud Naming Rights Sponsor, we know that when it is safe and responsible to do so, our community will once again unite and rejoice in the ability to feel that little bit closer to their homeland, through film,” he added.

“We can’t wait for the Delphi Bank Greek Film Festival – Australia to return nationally in 2021, with a program of the finest contemporary Greek cinema.”
