Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston has weighed into the US election debate when she posted on Instagram an image of herself posting her vote at a West Hollywood official ballot drop box and declared her choice in favour of … Joe Biden.

The 51-year-old star said in the message posted on Friday that she had “#IVOTED for @joebiden and @kamalaharris. I dropped my ballot off, and I did it early,”

“I voted for them because right now this country is more divided than ever. Right now, a few men in power are deciding what women can and can’t do with their own bodies. Our current President has decided that racism is a non-issue. He has repeatedly and publicly ignored science… too many people have died,” wrote Ms Aniston who has been increasingly critical of President Donald Trump’s presidency and his reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic.

She asked for voters to carefully consider how they voted in this election: “This whole thing isn’t about one candidate or one single issue, it’s about the future of this country and of the world. Vote for equal human rights, for love, and for decency.”

She added that it would not be funny to cast votes for singer/wrapper Kanye West who announced he would be running for the presidency in July.

Her ex-husband Brad Pitt also declared his support for Biden appearing in a campaign advertisement in which he described the candidate as “a president for all Americans”.

Both stars drew fire from social media critics for their stance and accusing them of trying to influence people on how they should vote.

One of the critics, “Carlos De La Fuentes” tweeted: “Woman please!!! Don’t tell people how to vote! You couldn’t even manage your finances or your relationship with Ross!”

Meanwhile, some heavyweight Hollywood stars weighed in to support Ms Anniston and Mr Pitt in the form of Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon, Rita Wilson and Jennifer Garner.
