VIRTUAL OPEN LECTURE: CONTEXTUALIZING THE PAST AND THE PRESENT OF SALENTINE-GREEK (GRIKO)
The Italian government passed Law 482 in 1999 recognizing Griko (Apulia) and Greko (Calabria), two languages of Greek origins used in Southern Italy, as one of the twelve minority languages in Italy. In this seminar Angeliki Douri and Dr Manuela Pellegrino will present a brief overview of the Griko language, touching primarily on its origins and repertoire of usage and will discuss the ways in which Griko keeps forming part of the lives of the locals.

GREEK FRINGE: VOCAL WORKSHOP WITH AGGELIKI TOUBANAKI
Greek Fringe is hosting an online singing workshop with renowned Greek gypsy jazz vocalist Aggeliki Toubanaki. Workshop themes include exploring the safe path to a healthy voice, an eclectic repertoire and uncovering different vocal qualities and tones playing humorous, unusual vocal games apart from the melodic vocabulary of speech. VIRTUAL OPEN LECTURE: THE NAVAL BATTLE OF SALAMIS
In this lecture Dr Zisis Fotakis will explore the naval battle of Salamis which is one of the largest military confrontations in antiquity having a modern demographic equivalent of well over 20 million souls. It is also the bloodiest naval battle of antiquity, recording many more human losses than most sea battles of the 20th century as a result of the speed and manoeuverability of the trireme, which depended on the physicality of its rowers, who in turn constituted an easy and obvious target for the enemy.

PRONIA WEEKLY MEDITATION SESSIONS
PRONIA is hosting a series of weekly meditation sessions for women in order to reduce stress and anxiety during this time. The sessions are facilitated by Lucy Louca an accredited Stillness meditation therapy teacher and they are offered free of charge by PRONIA as part of its community programs to combat the negative effects of the lockdowns on women and to help them build resilience and regain energy. The program is for women only.
