The world’s most favourite agent, 007, has died at the age of 90, his family announced earlier.

Sir Sean died peacefully in his sleep in Nassau, Bahamas surrounded by his family after being “unwell for some time”, his son Jason told the BBC.

“We are all working at understanding this huge event as it only happened so recently, even though my dad has been unwell for some time,” he said.

“A sad day for all who knew and loved my dad and a sad loss for all people around the world who enjoyed the wonderful gift he had as an actor.”

The famous actor, who was born Thomas Sean Connery on 25 August 1930 in Edinburgh, was also knighted for his services to film drama by Queen Elizabeth back in 2000.

The Scottish legend took Hollywood by storm when he embodied the role of British agent James Bond on the silver screen.

Sir Connery was also a lover of Greek culture and owned a beautiful villa in the seaside town of Porto Heli, south of Athens.

The late actor visited the villa often enjoying the sea and sunshine while in the company of A-list friends and his family.

Another legendary moment that will forever connect Sir Connery with Greece is his collaboration with composer Vangelis Papathanasiou.
