On Wednesday, the annual Walk Against Family Violence was held as a “virtual walk” in different parts of Melbourne.

Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre in partnership with Respect Victoria organised the “virtual walk”’, with participants asked to wear orange and walk from home. The walk marked the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

“Yesterday we walked towards a future where every person is safe, equal and respected. The Walk Against Family Violence marked the beginning of this year’s 16 Days of Activism,” said Dorothy Hatzopoulos, PRONIA‘s Public Relations and Communications Officer.

“PRONIA staff wore orange showing their support for victim-survivors and sending a message that family and domestic violence are never okay.

“The staff of PRONIA walked to support a future where family violence is not tolerated,” Ms Hatzopoulos said.
