If your movie is not doing well at the box office, then there is a chance it will work wonders online.

George Themelis is a Greek photographer from Los Angeles who co-produced the comedic picture X’s and O’s, which was recently pirated on the internet via a file-sharing service.

Themelis and his co-filmmakers estimated that about 150,000 viewers downloaded the picture in just one week.

It cost investors $US850,000 to produce the film, but gauging from its online popularity, all involved must be fairly impressed with the outcome of it finding a dedicated and abundant audience.

X’s and O’s focuses on biologist Simon (Clayne Crawford) lusting after blond beauty Jane (Sara Wright) who barely knows he even exists.
Going against the grain of his best friend’s advice, Simon decides to make Jane jealous by dating his lab partner Trese.
