Stefanos Tsitsipas knocked out Thanasis Kokkinakis during their second round match of the Australian Open,

“Bravo Thanasis” and “Bravo Stefane” could be heard from the stands, where Greek flags were in abundance as the first set carried on, with Australia’s Kokkinakis taking out the first set in a tie break.

However, the spectacular game play we’ve come to know and love from the Greek Tsitsipas really shone through as he kicked the game up a notch, winning the next two sets.

The 24-year-old Aussie was not about to give up his chance at a Grand Slam so quickly, bringing the game to a nail biting five setter after taking out another set with a tie breaking finish.

It was anyone’s game as the two young tennis stars clashed. However, it was the Greek world no.5 who would come out on top, taking home the final set on a 6-4 win.

Tsitsipas will return to the court on Saturday 13 February to face Sweden’s Mikael Ymer.
