The  second exhibition of the work of Adam Karipidis is currently on display at the Ryzanoff Gallery in Albert Park until the first week of April.

Entitled The Evolution Of the Divinities 2021, the exhibition represents the work of two years in oils, acrylics or a mix of both mediums on the canvas.

“Some of the paintings are the result of Australian 40°C heat baking the paint onto the canvas almost instantly,” said Mr Karipidis.

The paintings over the last two years are the result of a realisation that it was through painting he was able to express his philosophies and ideas on nature and technology and how the two can join in unison to create harmony for future generations.

Mr Karipidis said he was concerned with the state of Man and his use of “Feelings” and “Thoughts” in relation to the rapid advancement of technology. The artist said he believed that Feelings and Thoughts should be used in equal measure, like scales that needed to be balanced.

In the exhibition his free-flowing represent “Feelings” while the structured paintings represent “Thoughts” that show how harmony may be achieved when the two different forces work together.

Mr Karipidis was born in Melbourne and grew up in St Kilda “during the suburb’s Bohemian years where punk and other sub -cultures thrived in the 1970s and 1980s”.

He moved to the USA, when he was 20, saying goodbye “ to family, friends and football”. In his time there he immersed himself into the art scene “devouring books of fiction, visual arts, biographies and lived the life of an artist, writing novels, exhibiting his paintings in galleries and cafes in Los Angeles and New Orleans.
