On Thursday, there were 16 active COVID-19 cases in Victoria, four fewer than Wednesday, following results from 18,282 tests processed on the day before. There have been no new locally acquired cases outside the Holiday Inn cluster.

Victoria’s Premier Dan Andrews has said that the state was in a position to ease restrictions on Friday from current restrictions which limit public gatherings to 20 people outdoors and home visits to five. The cap on people returning to work is currently set at 50 per cent but may be lifted to 75 per cent in the public and private sector.

In Queensland, the state achieved 48 days free of community transmission.

NSW also marked its 38th day without a local case, a record for the state, which is continuing to ease restrictions. Key measures in the Greater Sydney and NSW area as of 26 February include:

• 50 visitors will now be allowed in the home;
• 30 people allowed to dance at weddings, with rotation on and off the dance floor;
• Increased class limits for gyms to 50 people (currently 30) subject to the 4sqm rule;
• Number of performers singing indoors increased to 30 (currently 5) subject to physical distancing requirements;
• Singing by congregants allowed in places of worship if masks are worn and subject to one person per 4sqm (currently no congregant singing allowed, with one per 2sqm permitted in places of worship);

While household gathering restrictions have been eased, NSW Health is reminding the community that COVID-19 can be transmitted easily in crowded indoor settings. People with COVID-19 symptoms should not attend events. Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms, however mild, should get tested and self isolate.
