State privatisation agency HRADF confirms the deal has been signed for the sale of gambling monopoly Opap to Emma Delta for 652m euros. The government has signed an agreement to sell a controlling 33 per cent stake in gambling monopoly Opap to Greek-Czech investment fund Emma Delta for 652m euros.
According to state privatisation agency HRADF, 622m euros will be paid in cash by October and the remaining 30m will be paid in 10 annual instalments.
Opap used to be the country’s most profitable company and has a monopoly on sports betting in the Greek market until 2020.
Emma Delta is controlled by Czech investor Jiri Smejc, who specialises in emerging markets, and George Melisanidis, the son Greek shipowner Dimitris Melisanidis.
