South Melbourne FC has been a fixture in Melbourne’s Greek-Australian community since 1959, so their visit to Preston’s St John’s College was a very welcomed surprise.

Last week the NPL team took some time to chat to the students about playing for South Melbourne Hellas and enjoyed coaching the students in a competitive game.

Students in years five and six, along with secondary students enjoyed the opportunity to meet the head coach and players.

South Melbourne FC presented a signed ball and a team jersey to the students of St John’s College and as a token of their appreciation school students presented the players with a St John’s College hat.

It seems that St John’s school spirit rubbed off on the team, going on to beat Altona Magic the following day 4-1.
