In a landmark day for West Adelaide Hellas, on Monday the South Australian Transport and Infrastructure Minister Tom Koutsantonis, in conjunction with the Federal member for Adelaide, Kate Ellis, announced that the West Adelaide Soccer Club will have a new home ground at the old Kilburn Primary School site.
Based 10 kilometres from Adelaide’s CBD, the 27,000 square metre site has given the club a home base which will encompass the entire community, and further aid the club’s plight to re-establish itself as a powerhouse of South Australian football.

MP Kate Ellis said the team deserved a home ground after its historic legacy in Adelaide. “It’s a win for one of Adelaide’s most famous soccer clubs – West Adelaide – which has a proud history but no current home.

Hellas Chairman Alex Alexandrou said the announcement was the culmination of many years of hard work in achieving the club’s number one goal, which was a home ground. Furthermore, he added that the Kilburn site will link in well with the proposed redevelopment of the club’s junior facility at Park 27B, 6km away from the Kilburn site.

The club will expect to host their first game at their new home in 2015, and Chairman Alexandrou took the time to thank each and every person who played a part in realising the club’s dream.

In what has been a memorable season, the club’s senior squad also capped off the 2013 NPL SA State League Championship, and also secured promotion, all the while remaining unbeaten with 3 games of the regular season left.

Hellas’ focus is now to finish off the season in style, and also build on its success to continue the fantastic run into the State’s top flight. West Adelaide’s senior coach, Ross Aloisi, added “it will be difficult at first, however with hard work we are hoping to consolidate our position in the Premier League over the next few years and build from there”.
