After dealing AEK another loss only a couple days after its take down by Olympiacos in the Super League playoffs, PAOK has edged closer to making it to the Greek Cup final.

Olympiacos’ chances also look promising after the impressive Super League performance and managed to save the match against PAS Giannina from a loss.

On Wednesday PAOK was able to snag a last minute win thanks to a spectacular freekick by midfielder Thomas Murg four minutes into overtime, spicing up an otherwise very quiet game at the Olympic Stadium of Athens.

Olympicaos met PAS Giannina in Ioannina, ending on a 1-1 draw. Things were looking promising for PAS as defender Rodrigo Erramuspe served up a winning penalty kick six minutes into first half overtime.

It was however an incredible bicycle kick by Red’s forward Ahmed Mahgoub in the 73rd minute that put a stop to a PAS victory.

Olympiacos’ keeper Jose Sa also put his skills to great use, denying the opposition any extra goals before Mahgoub equalised.

The teams will have some time to think about their next moves as the next set of semi finals will be held at the end of April.
