Young people are called to join the Intercultural Young Advocacy Leadership (IYAL) Group.

The Ethnic Communities’ Council of Victoria are recruiting 12 leaders, from 21-30 years, offering a pathway for young people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds to develop advocacy, governance and leadership experience.

The IYAL programme aims to ensure the voices of young advocates have a platform for being heard and for participating in the improvement of public policy for future generations of culturally diverse community groups.

Launched on 23 May 2018 at Parliament House, the IYAL programme is more important than ever. During the four-month pilot, the young advocacy leaders received awareness-raising sessions to enhance their knowledge and skills of governance and leadership in our culturally diverse community.

As young people face mounting challenges and uncertainty due to COVID-19, the ECCV is working with relevant stakeholders to redevelop and relaunch the IYAL program to address the current challenges and harness new opportunities to support and empower young people from CALD communities.

Young leaders for the program are currently being recruited for the next two years. Applications close 19 April 2021.
