The 2013 Demetria Cultural Festival kicks off again this Sunday with a stellar performance The Concert of the Hellenes to take place at Alphington Grammar at 2:30. The day will be filled with traditional dancers from the PanMacedonian group of Melbourne and Victoria. All leading up towards the big Macedonian Glendi in Oakliehg at Eaton Mall on Sunday 10 November at 11:30 am until late.

The 2013 Demetria Cultural Festival is filled with a month long of events. They include:

Sunday 20 October – The Reparation Memorial of Kratero Society, Macedonian House, 470 Queens Parade, Clifton Hill; Sunday 27 October – Dr Eleni Kalamboukas, psychologist, lecturer at Monash University, presents a lecture entitled “What do you need to be a leader – from Alexander the Great to contemporary great leaders” at 3:30 pm; Sunday 3 November – doxology and ceremony commemorating the Liberation of Kastoia at St Methodius and Cyrillus church in Yann Street, Preston; Wednesday 6 November – Professor Spyros Pavlidis, dean, Faculty of Physics, University of Thessaloniki will present a lecture at the Ithacan Society, level 2, 329 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne. The lecture – entitled “The Southern Aegean volcanic arc, the volcano of Santorini and the Minoan Civilization – has been organised by the Greek Community of Melbourne and Victoria; Thursday 7 November – Spyros Pavlidis, dean, Faculty of Physics, University of Thessaloniki will present a lecture at the Macedonian House, 470 Queens Parade, Clifton Hill, entitled “The Genesis of the Aegean, from myth to science (Geological creation, seismicity, the perceptions of the Ancietn Greeks, the genesis of European civilization; Saturday 16 November – Kastorian Dance at Stars International Reception, 1 Bell Street, Preston; Sunday 17 November – Lecture by Professot Anastasios M Tamis, University of Notre Dame, entitled Macedonian Tombs in Mieza, at 7:00 pm at Macedonia House, 470 Queens Street, Clifton Hill; Friday 22 November – Gala Dance where the Chalkidiki Society “Aristotelis O Stageiritis will celebrate their 50th anniversary of their foundation, at Kinis Live, 560 Church Street, Richmond at 7:30 pm; Sunday 24 November – Dr Vassilis Sarafidis, senior lecturer of economics, Monash University will present a lecutre entitled “Aristotles contribution to the development of contemporary economci thought” at Macedonain House, 470 Queens Parade, Clifton Hill at 3:00 pm.
