A hot seven-minute spell in the second half ensured Olympiakos retained its three-point lead at the top of the Super League as the Reds came from behind to beat Platanias at Hania on Saturday, while second-placed PAOK saw off Asteras Tripolis at home.

Platanias scored an early goal through David Torres, with the Hania team leading up to the 66th minute. Yet the own goal by Platanias defender Vasco Fernandes, a minute after being wrongly booked by the referee for what appeared to be a Javier Saviola dive, opened the Olympiakos floodgates.

By the 73rd minute Olympiakos had gone 3-1 up through goals by Costas Mitroglou and Saviola before Vladimir Weiss shaped the final 4-1 score with a great solo effort. This was four days ahead of Olympiakos’s Champions League challenge at Benfica.

A former Benfica center back, Miguel Vitor, scored both goals for PAOK in the Thessaloniki club’s 2-0 victory on Saturday. PAOK will face Maccabi Haifa for the Europa League at home on Thursday.

Panthrakikos scored the upset of the weekend as it scored its first ever victory at Panathinaikos. The 2-1 win came by goals from Zequinha and Romeu, with Luciano Figueroa temporarily equalizing for the host in its 500th league game at the Apostolos Nikolaidis stadium.

Atromitos and Ergotelis share the third spot in the table after the former thrashed Levadiakos 3-0 at home and the latter shared a 1-1 draw at the Iraklio derby with host OFI.

The biggest win of the weekend belonged to Xanthi, which defeated Kalloni Lesvou 5-1 at Thessaloniki, as Kalloni’s home ground is not yet ready to host Super League games.

In other games Aris scored its second win this season beating Veria 1-0 away, while Apollon and Panetolikos ended up at 1-1.
