Greek director, Dennis Iliadis, has signed on to oversee his next big Hollywood endeavour after the successful debut of his latest movie.

Illiadis directed a remake of the 1972 horror film The Last House on the Left which debuted at number three at the Box Office last week with an impressive opening of $14.7 million.

The remake of Wes Craven’s The Last House on the Left stars Monica Potter, Sara Paxton, Garret Dillahunt and Tony Goldwyn.

For those unfamiliar with the original film, The Last House on the Left explores how far two ordinary people will go to exact revenge on the sociopaths who harmed their child.

The night she arrives at the remote Collingwood lakehouse, Mari (Sara Paxton) and her friend are kidnapped by a prison escapee and his crew.

Terrified and left for dead, Mari’s only hope is to make it back to parents John and Emma (Tony Goldwyn and Monica Potter).

Unfortunately, her attackers unknowingly seek shelter at the one place she could be safe.  And when her family learns the horrifying story, they will make three strangers curse the day they came to the last house on the left.

Variety reported this week that IIiadis has since signed on to direct another thriller, Cure, for Groundswell Productions.

Cure focuses on the story of a man whose wife is sent for an experimental treatment for a terminal illness.

She is cured of her ailments, only to return to her husband with an infection even more frightening.

The film was written by Max Payne and is expected to begin shooting in the middle of this year.

Casting details are yet to be released.

Iliadis is best known for his 2004 movie, Hardcore, which enjoyed large audiences at the Greek Film Festival and created shock and controversy with its story about two young hookers immersed in the Athenian underworld.
