David Zaharakis sealed a thrilling five-point victory over Collingwood at the MCG in the annual Anzac Day blockbuster clash on Saturday, kicking his first career goal.

Before 85,000 Zaharakis put the Bombers ahead with virtually the last kick of the intense match.

Victory couldn’t have been much sweeter for the Bombers who trailed the Magpies by one point with less than a minute remaining on the clock before a goal on the run to Zaharakis in just his fourth game sealed the match.

“Growing up an Essendon supporter, you dream about doing it,” Zaharakis said. “You’ve done it a thousand times in your backyard as a kid imagining it and now to do it in a game and for … my first goal on Anzac Day as the winning goal is just amazing. I never thought it would happen and it’s basically a dream come true.”
