Arsonists have attacked seven suburban political offices in a spate of attacks across Athens, police last week.

Offices belonging to the governing New Democracy party, socialist opposition party PASOK and the far-right LAOS party were targeted in the attacks, officials said.

Most of the fires were lit using petrol and small cooking gas canisters that appear to have been thrown into the buildings, police said.

Some of the firebombs may have been remotely detonated, police added.

The firebombings occurred within 20 minutes of each other beginning at about 3 a.m. local time, police said. The buildings sustained damage but no one was hurt.
