Adelaide’s 4th Hellenic Cultural Festival, ODYSSEY, was officially launched on October 1 in conjunction with the opening of the Greek Film Festival 2009, which featured the film Bang Bang Wedding, starring Alex Dimitriades.

The opening ceremony took place at Palace Nova cinemas in the city centre with a myriad of official guests, media representatives and members of the community attending the event.

The President of the Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia (GOCSA), Vasilis Elovaris, welcomed all guests and s poke of the significance and the role of the festival stating:

“The Hellenic Cultural Festival Odyssey is an offering to South Australia’s rich and culturally diverse community and every South Australian, regardless of cultural or linguistic origin, is invited to participate, to experience and to enjoy.

“The Odyssey will give those who join us, a greater insight into the Hellenes that live next door or down the road, which certainly provides for greater multicultural awareness and understanding for all, who work and live in this great city and country of ours.”

The GOCSA apologised for the technical difficulties in certain theatres during the opening night screening of ‘Bang Bang Wedding which resulted in some of cinema goers not being able to watch the entire film or parts of it. Any affected viewers were compensated.
