Greek gymnast Vassilis Tsolakidis narrowly missed out on a medal at the World Gymnastics Championship in London on Sunday.

Tsolakidis finished fourth in the parallel bars final with 15,350 points after a very good performance.

He was the only Greek to participate in a final in this championship, as Greece’s biggest names such as Lefteris Kosmidis and Vlassis Maras had failed to qualify having succumbed to more difficult than usual programs.

In contrast, Tsolakidis opted for a less difficult sequence (a 6.30
diffculty factor) that allowed him to reach the final of the parallel
bars with the fifth best score in qualifying.

The parallel bars gold medal went to China’s Wang Guanyin, who edged out fellow countryman Feng Zhe. Japan’s Kazuhiko Tanaka was third.
