Olympiakos and Maroussi scored significant away wins for the Euroleague this week, but Panathinaikos once again faltered against Real Madrid.

Lietuvos Rytas proved a very tough nut for Olympiakos to crack in Lithuania on Wednesday, but the Reds eventually prevailed in overtime 89-83, thanks to 19 points from centre Yiannis Bourousis.

The regular time had ended 74-74, but Olympiakos were superior in overtime to claim their sixth win in eight games and remain top of the table.

On the same night Maroussi scored an impressive victory over Lottomatica Roma, winning 87-74 in Italy for their third win in eight matches.

This victory was ever so important for Maroussi because not only did they catch up with their beaten opponents at the standings, but they also gained the upper hand in the all-important head-to-head record, as Maroussi covered their 12-point loss in Athens with their 13-point win.

Then on Thursday Panathinaikos produced a rather dismal performance, in the absence of injured captain Dimitris Diamantidis, to lose 76-67 at the Olympic Sports Hall in Athens.

This was the second time Real Madrid have got the better of Panathinaikos this season, and they will now probably finish top of the group with the Greens in second.

The Spaniards led throughout the game and had excellent scoring rates in their three-point shots.

In the Eurocup on Tuesday, Aris defeated visiting Siauliai from Lithuania 85-67, while Panellinios suffered their first loss, going down 81-76 at Turow in Poland
