Stuttgart-born Dimitris Basis, in Australia for the celebration of the Bicentennial of the Greek Revolution, was to have performed in Melbourne on 29 May, however his presentation of uplifting songs by Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hadjidakis, Vassilis Tsitsanis and Stavros Xarhakos has been postponed.

The Concert which was to have taken place at the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall of the Melbourne Recital Centre has now been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Festival Organiser Nia Karteris told Neos Kosmos that she was “deeply disappointed” by the postponement due to the Melbourne lockdown.

Tickets priced from  are not immediately refundable as a new date for the concert is explored, which is part of a tour which kicked off in Sydney last weekend.

The Basis’ concert in Sydney was the headline act at the Hope Estate, and amazed audiences.

Dimitris Basis’ tour will continue in Australia with upcoming concerts in Adelaide and Melbourne.
