Prince William received an ecstatic reception at Whittlesea where he learned first hand about bushfire recovery in Whittlesea; some of the areas hardest hit by the Black Saturday Bushfires.

At Flowerdale he attended a private community gathering, where he ate a BBQ lunch, which Mayor of Whittlesea, Mary Lalios helped to cook.

Prince William donned an apron and partook in the great Australian tradition of BBQ cooking.

Lalios said: “I also thanked him, on behalf of Whittlesea residents, for visiting Whittlesea and bushfire areas. I thanked him for the message he and his brother Prince Harry sent to all Australians during the sound relief concert,” said Cr Lalios.

He was also the star player in a cricket match with children and cricket players Brett Lee, Callum Ferguson, David Hussey and Brad Hodge.
