Name: Elly Kouroumalis, 21, student and singer.

Your greatest achievement(s)and how you reached them? Completing my Bachelor of Music degree and singing at venues around Melbourne and Australia from the age of five.

Goal(s) for the future? To go as far as I can in life as a Greek singer, to establish a career as a music educator, have a family of my own.

Best moment of your life? Stepping out onto stage and singing the songs of our great Hellenic culture are always the best moments of my life!

One word that describes you the best: Scorpion. Anyone who has met a Scorpio, will know what this entails!

Person(s) you most admire and why? My parents. Without them, I wouldn’t have been able to follow my dreams.

Most embarrassing moment? I have always been known as the class clown that tends to take jokes too far. But hey, those jokes still make everyone laugh!

If I could say anything to the Greek community… support Greek music in Australia.

Favourite place to go or hang out at? Bob Jane Stadium on a Sunday afternoon watching South Melbourne Hellas.

Song that I can’t get out of my head at the moment? ‘Kavourakia’. After performing the song at Antipodes In The Park, it’s been stuck in my head for days!

Favourite Greek food? Where to start… souvlakia (only with chips and mustard included), baklava, a good taramasalata with fresh bread, tsoureki (put into the microwave with melted butter on top), and pretty much anything at my yiayia’s house after a long hard day at uni… oh, did you only mean one dish?

I can’t live without… Singing and shopping.

If I was Kevin Rudd for a day I would… Probably dye my hair darker, grow a moustache, sit in the sun for a bit and buy a few thick gold chains!
