Around 250 parents and relatives packed out the Doncaster Secondary School hall for the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria’s (GOCMV) Doncaster school Christmas party last Friday.

GOCMV Greek schools principal, Stelios Paikis, said the students performed traditional Greek dances and songs, as well as a shortened version of the Ancient Greek play, Lysistrata.

“It was something that was enjoyed by parents and students alike,” he said.

Mr Paikis said this was the first year the Doncaster school, which has 350 students on a Friday, had two separate concerts, and the feedback had been positive.

The GOCMV runs six after-hours Greek schools across Melbourne. There are two schools in Balwyn and Doncaster, and one each in Albert Park and Alphington, with a total of 850 students this year.
