Registrations for athletes for the Oceania Pan Hellenic Games in Darwin close soon so athletes – get cracking.

Any person, within the ages of 16-30 (16-25 men’s soccer or 12-30 swimming) who has Hellenic ancestry and who is a permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand is invited to apply and compete. There is no limit to how many events any individual may compete in.

The Greek Orthodox Community of North Australia (GOCNA) and the local Greek organisations are the organisers of the Oceania Pan-Hellenic games Darwin. The 2011 games will be hosted by GOCNA in Darwin commencing 29 September between 2 October. Since GOCNA was awarded the games there has been huge interest from people all over Australia and New Zealand to send their athletes, and spectators who want to participate in the games as well as take in the natural wonders that make up the Northern Territory.

Attractions include Litchfield and Kakadu National Parks, outback camping and fishing tours, Darwin City, harbour tours on the Amphibian Tour Bus, Pearl Luggers and many more. The Pan Hellenic Games will also host an out of season Glenti as part of the closing of what is anticipated to be very friendly and enthusiastic sporting competition.
