Greek born artist Christos Tsintsaris will be exhibiting his artistic endeavours as part of the show Runaway Circus being held at the Auguste Clown Gallery for the next two weeks.
Born in Thessaloniki in 1974, the Greek artist was always fascinated by the artwork of album covers of the ’70s and ’80s and revealed an early talent for drawing cartoons, comic books and fantasy sequences. He created his first comic strip at aged eight.
In 1992 he entered Boston University’s School of Fine Arts (now College of Fine Arts) with a full scholarship. While in college, Tsintsaris developed his technique in oil painting and sculpting, but also begins creating and submitting professional comic strips to local newspapers.
The artist’s work can be found at the permanent collection of Thessaloniki’s Municipal Gallery and in private art-collections in Greece, U.S.A., Australia and England.
This trip to Australia sees the artist showcase some of his fantasy and comic based art pieces as part of the exhibition Runaway Circus. The exhibition is a celebration of the bizarre and unusual and the Auguste Clown gallery – where it will be shown – is known for representing works of a new art genre and pop surrealism.
Runaway Circus will be on at the Auguste Clown Gallery, 696 Sydney Road, Brunswick for another two weeks. Christos’ work can also be purchased online at www.augusteclown.com. The gallery’s opening hours are Friday from 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Saturdays and Sundays form 10:00 – 3:00 pm.
