Boys and girls from 11 schools around Victoria, all from diverse backgrounds competed in the AFL Multicultural Cup this week.

The round robin style cup saw hundreds of students play Victoria’s most loved game, and even got some helpful tips from multicultural ambassadors, Majak Daw and David Rodan.

Our Lady’s Primary School (Cragieburn), supported by Essendon FC claimed the Cup in the boy’s division and Mother of God (Ardeer), supported by Western Bulldogs FC were crowned champions of the girls division.

Majak Daw said he was highly impressed by the talent and enthusiasm on display at the tournament.

“It’s fantastic to see so many young kids from all different backgrounds enjoying their footy.”

The Victorian Multicultural Schools Cup is part of the Australia Post AFL Multicultural Schools Program – an initiative by Australia Post and the AFL to bring students of various cultural backgrounds together to participate and learn the skills of Australia’s Game, as well as support and celebrate diversity.
