Greece is poised to receive over 86 million euros for curbing illegal immigration, Cecilia Malmstrom, European Commissioner for Home Affairs announced this week. The Swedish commissioner was responding to an European Parliament question by New Democracy Euro-MP Giorgos Papanikolaou.
The funds, said Ms Malmstrom, will be released through the EU’s External Borders, Return, Refugee and Integration Funds.
The European Commissioner Ms Malmstrom is expected to visit Greece on May 13 and 14.
