Susie Wolff will become Williams’ and F1’s first official female test driver for the 2015 season.

The 31-year-old will step into the role after being the team’s development driver, a job she’s held for three seasons.

In July this year, Wolff became the first woman to take part in a grand prix weekend for more than 20 years when she participated in P1 at the British and German GPs.

Wolff said she was happy Williams was recognising her progression and her “hard work.

She will be testing the team’s new FW37 as well as performing extensive simulator work to get the car up to scratch.

Williams ended this season third in this year’s Constructors’ Championship after finishing ninth in 2013.
